Seth’s first bath!

We gave Seth his first bath, last Sunday night. I just had to capture it for prosperity :) My angle isn’t the best — either is the quality. I’m working on both. Anyway, it’s pretty darn cute, if I do say so, myself.

He’s had another bath, last night. He handled it, much better. And he didn’t pee on me, like he did Mommy.

@ the hospital 18 Days Old

I know I keep saying it, but Seth’s changing at an amazing rate. The first pic, above, I posted previously. But, I had to put it up, again, so that you can see the changes. These are about 17 days apart. He’s 1 day old in the first pic and 18 days old in the second.

I returned to work, this week. It was tough. I really didn’t want to leave him for a whole day, let alone 5 whole days. Good thing I’m off, again, next week.

I really need something else to write about. I’m wondering if those of you who have been checking out this blog are bored with baby-talk, yet :) . Well, “Ga-Ga-Goo-Goo”, to you.

2 Weeks Old

I can’t believe it’s been two weeks. Seth is doing great. Every morning, I’m surprised at how much he’s changed. I look at the pictures we’ve taken and compare them. He’s soooooooooooo different! His eyes are open, more, now. He reacts to Mommy and Daddy more. If I could just get over the diaper dumps…

The pic above is from this morning. Doesn’t he look just happy? I didn’t know it at the time, but he had just filled his diaper.

You're gonna do what? 1 Week

He’s now 11 day’s old and he’s been changing at a rapid pace. Seth weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces when we left the hospital on the 4th. As of this morning, he weighs 7 pounds, 3 ounces. I didn’t know babies grew that fast!

We see behavioral changes, too. His eyes are open a lot more. He’s more interactive. We even have a new game. He presses on my hand with his feet until his legs are straight. Then, he slightly relaxes his legs and I slowly push back until his knees are completely bent. Then, we repeat. I think he likes it. I know I do.

We had his bris, last Friday. I handled it well, as you can see in the pic above :)

1 Week

I can’t believe it’s been a whole week since this kid’s been born. We had a brit for him, this morning. It wasn’t as bad as I expected. I still winced.

I took this picture to see how much he’s changed. In the photos, I can’t see much of a difference. However, we can see changes in him, every day.

Chillin' Sleepin GoingHome

We came home, today. Everybody’s doing great! Thanks to everyone who has emailed, called, etc. We appreciate all the support we’ve been given.

Right now, we’re just enjoying parenthood. The balance of taking care of everything and trying make sure everyone has the rest they need has been… interesting. A friend of mine said it will all become second nature. I sure hope so :)

I don’t have much time to write this. Our son is now just over an hour old. He was born at 2:56 Central. His weight is 6 pounds, 14 ounces. He’s 18 and 3/4 inches long. His pic is above. Click on it for a larger version. I’ll write/post more later.

T minus 7…. no… really

Apparently, I can’t count. When I was told that the bris should occur on the 8th day of life, I took that as 8 days after birth. So, I made all arrangements with my family to come in for a Friday ceremony.

Then, the Mohel corrected me. If a boy is born on a Thursday, his circumcision takes place on the following Thursday.

So, the situation was that we could either ask my family to try to change their plane tickets, hotel reservations, etc, with less than a week’s notice, or we could try to move the birth back one day. After much discussion, we decided to talk to the doctor.

The doctor was very gracious and made all arrangements to move back one day. So, ignore my last post. Our son will be born on March 2nd.

34 Weeks

So, we’re down to one week. We’re checking in on the evening of January 28 and our son should be born on March 1st. The nursery is half-done. The house is mostly rearranged. We’re winding up. I looked back at all my posts for the past several months. I realized how little I wrote about the impending addition to our family. At first, I couldn’t believe I didn’t have more to put forth. Then, I realized that this is actually a good thing.

As little material as it gave me, my wife’s pregnancy was pretty uneventful. Our son has developed well and there have been little to no issues. As our paranatologist said, “A boring pregnancy is a good pregnancy.”

At least, that’s what the doctor said, yesterday. His estimated weight was 5 pounds, 3 ounces. That’s up from the 2 pounds, 13 ounces he weighed just a month, prior. The doc said that the amount of growth is normal. At this rate, we figure he’ll be just a bit above 8 pounds at the end of the term.

We’ll be sending birth announcements to NFL recruiters…

Oh, and click on the picture if you’d like a larger view.
