A Womb — but, no view

So, we really expected to know the gender of our baby by the time we were finished with our appointment. But, it was not to be so. The conclusion from the doctor was, “I’m inclined to think it’s a girl, but it’s still a 50/50 shot.”
On the very bright side, the baby appears to be completely healthy. The heart is beating well. All the organs are there — in the right spot. All appendages are there.

22 weeks, down. 18 weeks to go.

We had another great doctor’s appointment, today! So far, everything seems to be going fine. The doctor had some difficulty finding the baby’s heartbeat with the pocket Doppler, though. So, she brought in a portable sonogram and took a look, that way.
We didn’t get to hear the heartbeat, which was a bummer. However, we got to see the baby. It was funny, because his arms and head were moving back and forth like he was waving, or dancing. Click on the picture below for a better look.
The most amazing sound

We heard the most amazing sound, today. Well, two amazing sounds. We had an appointment with the doctor to check up on the baby. While we were there, the doc pulled out a pocket doppler. The geek in me thinks that is too cool.
She used the doppler to let us hear the fetus’ heartbeat. I’d heard that sound several times, on shows, but there’s something special when it’s your own child’s. All of a sudden, we heard a small thump come from the device. The doctor told us it was a kick. Once again, too cool.
The report was all good. The heartbeat is good and strong.
Baby’s first picture

OK, I know I said I was going to write about our family vacation in this post. However, I changed my mind. There’s two reasons: (1) I have family waiting to see this picture. (2) I’m hoping to post some pics of the trip we took. I have yet to find a convenient way to post a gallery of pics with the software I’m using for this blog. I’ll work on that, this week.

Anyway, about the upcoming baby. We’re expecting on/about March 6. We went for a sonogram on July 28. So far, the baby is developing right on target. He is the right size and his heartbeat is right on track. Edit - We don’t know the gender, yet. I used he, in the generic sense. I just got tired of calling him, “it”.
We’re exploring names, now. We have a short list. I’ll post it, when I can find it.
